The foundation stone for the upgradation of the PHC was laid on February 25, 2014 by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the presence of local MLA and Environment Minister Alina Saldanha and others. The project to be built through GSIDC is a two-storeyed building on an area of 2,510 sq mtrs, with a built-up area of 3,849 sq mtrs and it will be built at a cost of Rs 8 crore.
It was expected to be completed within 1 year.
Cansaulim PHC serves the villages of Velsao, Cansaulim, Utorda, Majorda, Betalbatim, Colva, Benaulim, Seraulim etc

About 200 Covid-19 positive cases under Cansaulim PHC jurisdiction i.e. Velsao, Cansaulim, Utorda, Majorda, Betalbatim, Colva, Benaulim, Seraulim.. of which 119 cases were active as of 23.8.20

42 bedded Cansaulim PHC Hospital will be ready for inauguration in 2 months. TOI 24/8/20.
Ground floor will have casualty section, 6 OPDs - General, Dental, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, Pediatric and Orthopedic along with plaster room, Pharmacy, Ayurvedic Clinic, Laboratory, Dialysis facility and X-ray room.
First floor will have Female Ward, Mother and Child Ward (post natal), Pediatric Ward, Labour Room, Waiting area, Operation Theatre, ICU, Doctors' Station and Janitor room.
Second Floor with Male Ward, Rest Room, PHC Office, Conference Hall, Canteen, Store Room etc

The new Cansaulim PHC Hospital likely to be inaugurated in next 2 months (NT25/10/20)
Local MLA Mrs Alina Saldanha said it will take about 2 more months for inauguration as the main reason for the recent delay is due to setting up of STP (Sewage Treatment Plant). Some minor internal work of the building also remained she said.

Today, the Cansaulim PHC hospital finally started operating as Step Up Hospital for co-morbid Covid patients on First and Second floor.
Witness says huge lines (Queue) are seen for testing of patients (9am-1pm) which is at the basement.
Casualty service was also to start form today 10.5.21 with 24x7 service
