Cover for Covid treatment in Pvt Hospitals under DDSSY suspended again eff  14.6.2021
Herald news headline pg 2 dtd 21.6.21 reads "Govt Pulls out DDSSY scheme from Private Hospitals: Leaves patients in lurch"
DDSSY Consultant Dr. Balkrishna Pai confirmed  Govt had issued an order on June 14 to Pvt Hospitals halting DDSSY payments for treatment of Covid patients.

It also say the Govt earlier Order was for one month only and now there is ample space at Govt Hospitals in terms of bed availability.
Also, Govt capped rates for Pvt Hospitals are valid till June 30, 2021

Good news for DDSSY card holders

Due to overcharging etc  by Pvt Hospitals,  Goa Govt taking over 50% of the bed capacity of the 21 Pvt. empanelled Covid hospitals in the State under disaster Management Act?  Eff Monday 17th May 2021. Order will be out by tomorrow Sunday.

Admission etc will be managed by the Govt (Mgt, Doctors Nurses remain with the Pvt hospital)

Which means DDSSY beneficiaries will get 100% free treatment in Pvt Covid hospitals (earlier upto 80% was to be borne by the Govt under the scheme)

Free Auto-renewal of DDSSY scheme 
Goa Chief Minister on 6.5.21 said all the scheme will be renewed automatically free of cost - No need to pay annual premium as did over the past years.  Even those who did not pay premium last years will be covered and those who have not enrolled for the DDSSY scheme yet can also do now visiting centres or apply online

The Pvt. Hospital treatment now officially notified dtd 5.5.21
Room charges will be paid on general ward basis i.e. Even if the patient takes twin sharing room or single room, he will be paid Rs.8000 per day only* and difference shall be borne by the patient.  ICU Charges Rs.19,200*.  Extras if any shall be borne by the beneficiary (Patient). Extra such as Diagnostic interventions, Special drugs, Use of special equipment,Other special procedures/surgery, Extra oxygen flow other than ICU etc

*Subject to Maximum 10 days from the date of admission. More than 10 days, then extra days to be borne by the patient.

The above packages rates 8000/19200 include- Admission charges, intensivist, primary and specialist consultant charges, bed charges, nursing resident doctor, diet, PPE kits for staff, X-Ray, ECG, USG, 2D Echo, cardiac monitor, infusion pump, catheterization, CBC, FBSI, PPBSI, HBA1c, creatinine, liver function test, blood group, routine medicine including a multivitamin, vitamin C, zinc, vitamin D, Paracacetamol, antacid, anti-allergy, HCQ, Azithromycin, Doxycycline, levofloxacin and dexamethasone, ivermectin, dietary changes.

A Kovid patient spent 5 days in Margao Hospital and his bill reportedly Rs.2.20 Lacs i.e. 44K per day (NT front page today)

Next, you may want to know if it was covered under DDSSY?

The Hospital denied saying no official order from Govt yet.

Looks like the patient was admitted on 26 or 27th April.

On 28th April Goa CM announced KOVID treatment now come under DDSSY Insurance Scheme and that patient will have to bear upto 30% of the bill (66K in above case)  See update above

May be the Govt needs to come out with notification to this effect..

DDSSY cover for Covid care in Pvt Hospitals
Goa Chief Minister announced the Covid treatment in Pvt Hospitals now come under DDSSY scheme (partly) and said 70-80% will be borne by the Govt under the scheme. 
 and as such the patient may have to pay upto 30% of the total bill.

Pvt Hospitals charges further reduced (Govt Capped rates eff 23rd April 2021)
as follows
General ward Rs.8000 (reduced from 10,000)
Twin sharing room Rs.10,400 (from 13,000)
Single Pvt room Rs12,800 (from 16,000)
ICU Charges Rs.19,200 (from 24,000)


Above charges includes all charges and fees except diagnostic interventions, use of special drugs and equipment, other surgical procedures and extra oxygen flow etc

If patient spends 10 days in General ward his  bill would be 80,000 plus charges for special drugs, equipment etc (as above) then total bill say 1,00,000 of which patient will have to pay upto Rs.30,000

Similarly, if patent spent 10 days in ICU his total bill could be say 2,00,000 (1,92,000 + extra if any as above) of which the patient may have to pay Rs.60,000

Cover for Covid-19 treatment under DDSSY scheme suspended, notification cancelled..
After deliberation with Hon’ble CM , we have decided to cancel the notification issued to cover Covid-19 treatment under DDSSY. A fresh notification will be issued in consultation with the Hon’ble CM.

Covid / Corona treatment now covered under the Schemes DDSSY.
Mild Covid cases upto Rs.4600 per day (Rs.64,400)
Severe Covid cases upto Rs.6,600 per day (Rs.92,400)
Patients with DDSY cards can now opt for treatment in dedicated Pvt Hospitals. 
Please note their actual bill in Pvt Hospital could be lot more e.g. General ward bed charges Rs.10,000 per day, Twin sharing room 13,000 per day, Pvt Room Rs.16,000  per day, 
ICU charges 24,000 per day etc (Govt Capped / revised rates for Pvt Hospital)

Please note, you have to register  with goaonline if you have not already registered.
If you paid water bills or light bills goaonline before then you are probably registered in which case you will have to login.   For onetime registration, you phone, address and adhar Card required.

Those who are unable to pay online then wait for SMS as in past years and only then go for payment at designated centres as notified in the SMS / Text that you will receive on you cellphone

Insurance premium due
You will get a Text /SMS message inviting you to your nearest centre.  Carry with you the DSSSY Card, Aadhaar Card and Rs.200 or 300 (Rs.200 for family upto 3 members, more than 3 its 300).
There they will ask you to fill up a Form R (Renewal), see pic, with Name, DDSSY Card No., Mobile Number, signatures both sides

Goa Government has launched Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY), a health insurance scheme on Goa Statehood Day 30.5.2016
 Health Insurance for all rich and poor living in Goa for 5 years and above.
Government employees & their families covered under government medical reimbursement are not eligible under DDSSY.

Registration charges:
 Rs.200 for family of up to 3  Rs. 300 for family of 4 and more.
Above charges to be paid at the time of Card Collection i.e. End July onwards
Insurance cover of Rs. 2.5 Lacs and 4 lacs respectively
Cover includes quality medical care and treatment of diseases, hospitalization and surgery through Government and private hospitals.
The annual installment of the insurance premium which is Rs. 3,206 per family will be paid by the Government to the insurance company.

Rcvd after about 45 days
You will get SMS message ( or call) asking to come and collect your card with Adhaar Card proof.
SMS reads 'Dear Joe (A073072), one of your family members has to visit DDSSY Kendra, Panaji (UHC) on (Date) between 10am-5pm to collect you DDSSY card. Carry Adhaar Card and Rs.200 as fees' Sender VK GELGO
Also carry your mobile phone to show SMS / TXT  (or note down the 7 digit form No. preceded by a letter e.g. A073072, the same number of your application form for registration, acknowledgment or receipt you were given and SMS/TXT you received on your cell phone )
They may also register your right hand thumb if not registered earlier.

One card per family


The scheme will be effective from 15.8.16, delayed by 15 days, new date 1st September 2016

  3. your information is very helpful. However, I would like to know the period for the renewal of my card which was done last year. The card does no show the period of validity.

  5. Goa Government has started the Deen Dayal Swasthya Sewa Yojana for the welfare of the people of the state. It is a health insurance scheme. The people who are the permanent resident of the state Goa. The scheme is aimed to give the benefit to each resident of the state and not depending on the financial status of the families.
