GRIHA ADHAR SCHEME:  Some FAQs

1. Who is eligible for monthly 1200 allowance?
Note: Monthly 1000 increased to 1200 eff June 2014, 1500 eff Oct 2016
- Any married woman above the age of 18 years and whose joint annual household income is  Rs.3,00,000 or less.
e.g. You are entitled to claim monthly allowance even if you earn 10,000 and  your husband earn 15,000 per month. However, either of you earn say Rs.1,000 extra per month, you are not qualified for this scheme.

2. What if I am married but widow or divorcee?
- You too are entitled to full monthly allowance.
Your annual income should not be more than 1,50,000.

 3. I am Savitri 30, originally from Karnataka living in Chimbla for last 12 or 13 years.
My husband Shivapa 32, living in Goa for 20 years
I am a housewife. My children born in Goa and they go to Panjim City School. Daughter 12, and Sons 11 & 10. Our monthly income is less than 18,000. Hope I am entitled to this scheme too since I have Voting card, Ration Card, Aadhar Card etc.
-  Sorry, you are not qualified for this scheme. You have to be living in Goa for atleast 15 years. You can try after 3 years. Moreover, 6 years from now, your daughter would be entitled to claim Rs.1,00,000 under Laadli Laxmi Scheme. You can find our more here
http://joegoauk-pointofview.blogspot.in/2012/09/laadli-laxmi-scheme-launched-today-6912.html

4. I am Carmelin,  a Goan housewife 55, my husband Pedro 65 is retired seaman and he gets Rs.2000 per month under DSS scheme. Am I entitled to claim monthly housewife allowance?
- Sorry, those claiming DSS pension are not qualified for this scheme.
However, your husband can claim additional Rs.500 per month from recently launched Seamen’s Pension scheme where they are paid Rs.2500 per month (minus 2000 DSS your case). Contact NRI Commissioner Wilfred Misquita. Forms also available at North & South Goa Collector’s office.

 5. I am Parvati 45, my husband Laxman died 3 years ago and hence I get DSS monthly pension of Rs.2000.  I have one school going son Suresh 15 and one daughter 13. What about me?
- Well, you too can claim Rs.1000 per month under housewife allowance till your children attain the age of 18. Widows with children below 18 can claim under both schemes.

 6. I am Mr. Joe 45,  widow (single parent), wife  returned to the Lord leaving behind 3 school going children and me. To my children I am their both father & mother. I cook them meals, do their washing etc as such I too cannot cope up with the rising cost of living. I do not work, I don’t have time to work. Only income I get is the Interest from my various Bank Fixed Deposits (Some Banks pay interest after deducting TDS). Since I am not a ‘housewife’ but househusband, what chances do I have to avail of this scheme?
- Well Mr. Joe, you,  in this case,  may not be a ‘housewife’ but you are definitely a ‘homemaker’ and I find no reason as to why you should be left out of this scheme.
Also, since you have no other income, I think you should also be entitled to widow allowance of Rs.2000 per month under DSSS
